Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Wow! Around the world and back in 15 days. What a whirlwind of God's faithfulness, help and mighty hand in the trip to Indonesia and back. On July 27th I started the long journey to Papua (formerly Irian Jaya), Indonesia with my North American team. Our team consisted of 4 medical students, 1 resident, 1 physician and 2 nurses – 8 team members in all.  I arrived on the island 54 hours after leaving Portland (yes, I was exhausted) and it was then that the real adventure began. We met our Indonesian partner physician, Dr. S. and his family as well as another Indonesian physician. The next day we were flown into the mountains of Papua to begin our medical ministry to three remote villages.  When we arrived in the first village we had the privilege of meeting the tribal evangelists that would also serve as our translators from Indonesian to the local dialects.       We started in the first village by doing clinic for one day there and t

21 days and counting...

Hello Family in Christ!      Can you believe it? In a little over three weeks I will be leaving for my medical mission trip to Indonesia. It seems like it was just yesterday that I received my friend's email asking me to consider what God would have me do in regards to this trip. Now I'm busily answering emails, gathering supplies, chasing down vaccines and counting down the days until I set foot on the airplane that will speed me to Asia. I have been amazed and humbled by God's faithfulness in this process and in His constant encouragement and confirmation of the call He has placed on my life. Thanks to all of you I will be taking the first step in the international mission nursing purpose God has for me and that's exciting!      As the trip approaches I have been praying quite a bit.  and there are a few things that you can be praying for as we prepare for, and go on this trip. I've been praying for the tribe that we are going to minister to in Papua, Indon

Indonesia

What amazing things God is doing!! I wanted to tell you all of the most recent thing God is doing in preparing me for launching out onto the mission field. Through an amazing set of events God has given me the opportunity to go on a short term medical trip to Indonesia. I've included a copy of my support letter below. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,                                                                                     When I was seven years old, God very clearly impressed on me that I was to be a medical missionary in Asia. For over 16 years my heart has beat with this goal, my blood has burned with this passion and my steps have moved resolutely in this direction. As I have grown closer to Jesus He has indelibly burned a single purpose into my soul – to obey His command to go and make disciples among the people groups who have never heard of Jesus or His redemption, and to teach them to obey all Jesus taught. This August I will b

For some of you reading this blog may feel as though you are stepping in on a conversation that began some time ago, and as such may seem confusing or disorienting, and for others it will feel like you are finally sending me out on the first step of a long awaited and much planned for journey you have helped bring me to. However, whether you are the former or the latter I want you to know the incredible things God has done so that you can walk along side me into the wonderful and amazing things He has planned for the future.  To go to the beginning of the conversation let me tell you a bit about myself. I grew up in church and called myself a Christian from a very young age. However, when I was nine I moved away from all of the things I thought I knew and I realized that my definition of Christianity was composed of following rules and traditions and making sure everyone saw me as a "Christian" when in fact I felt hollow, angry and lonely because I knew that
