My Purpose: Flashback to 2010

Nursing School Graduation It's funny what you run across as you go through papers looking for things. Today while I was trying to organize the somewhat-controlled-chaos of all the various papers for the several Wycliffe tasks I have going on (partnership development, work permit applications, and training preparation, etc...) I ran across something I had written 4 years ago this June while I was in my Junior/Senior year of nursing school. It really grabbed my attention because it reminded me why I am doing what I'm doing. Often, it's easy for me to get caught up in the "task" of things and forget the purpose of those things. God was faithful today to cross my paths with this "Purpose Statement" if you will, that I wrote 4 years ago... Teaching Wound Care in Papua, Indonesia My Purpose Oh how can I tell you in a paper what burns in my heart? I long, with every fiber of my being to touch those who are suffering with the love of Christ. I long t

Why I Can't Stay

“It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on another man’s foundation. Rather, as it is written; “Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.”” Romans 15:20-21 Someone once told me, “If you feel you can do anything else but missions then do not go to the mission field. Once, I felt God asked me if I would be willing to stay in the US and I flat out answered “No!” I wrestled with God and finally submitted to His will and said, “Lord, if you want me to stay, I’ll stay. I want to obey you no matter what.” Almost at the very moment of my submission, God l

You Can Learn a Lot of Things from the Flowers

“ Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!” Luke 12:27-28 NIV       I love the Spring. I feel as if I myself come alive and bend my face toward the sun just as the little flowers poke through the dark earth and lean toward the soft sunrays. With all the hustle and bustle of building a partner team for my Wycliffe ministry in Papua New Guinea and trying to cut down to a part time position at my work I had hardly noticed the beauty that was bursting around me in classic Northwest style. Thankfully, my best friend knew I needed a minute away to refocus myself and earlier this month she took me to one of my favorite places: The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the Spring and a g
